Airline route from Sharm el-Sheikh to Luxor to be reinstated this month

The airline route from Sharm el-Sheikh to Luxor will be reinstated at L.E. 1,800 for a roundtrip starting from Oct. 27.

Minister of Tourism Khaled al-Enany and Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Manar met to discuss promotion of tourism, where they agreed that the trip would initially be once a week.

Egypt has embarked in recent years on projects connecting mainland Egypt, especially Luxor and Aswan, to Red Sea resorts so tourists enjoy the most of the two worlds, vacationing at the beautiful resorts experiencing history and culture in the Nile Valley.

The airline route was last active in 2015, and it was decided to be reinstated per a request from officials in the tourism sector.

The move aims to provide an integrated tourism product by integrating the beach and leisure tourism product with the cultural tourism product so that the tourist can visit more than one tourist destination during his visit to Egypt, thus enriching their tourism experience by connecting the Nile Valley cities with the coastal tourist cities through domestic airlines.

The meeting also touched on the operation of other flights between the airports of all tourist governorates linking them together, and providing them with pieces of archaeological reproductions and indicative panels in different languages.

The two officials also discussed increasing the number of flights on October 21 to meet demands to visit the Abu
Simbel Temple where they can witness the sun’s alignment phenomenon.

Manar was eager to provide discounts for incoming flights to various tourist destinations, at prices of LE 2,150 to Sharm el-Sheikh, Hurghada, Luxor and Taba, and LE2,450 to Marsa Alam and Aswan.
