New EGP 3.5 Billion ‘Tunnel Road’ Will Get You from Cairo to Sharm in 4 Hours
President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi visited the construction site of what’s being dubbed as a “Tunnel Road”, a 342-km-long road which apparently will get you to Sharm el Sheikh in 4 hours.
The Armed Forces and Engineering Authority are the primary builders of the project, with contribution from The Arab Contractors and Orascom, as reported by Masrawy. The project comes up to a cost of LE 3.5 billion. The “Tunnel Road” is a part of a bigger state plan that will connect the capital with coastal cities.
The exciting infrastructural endeavor is planned to have three lanes, each with a width of 25 meters. The road will pass through the cities of Ras Sidr, Abu Zneimah, Abordis, ending in Sharm.
Service stations complete with ambulances, car service, network, and rest stops will also be included on the route. Not only will your time on the road be cut in half, but it’ll be accessible and safe, too.
The road is scheduled to open in December.
