Leave your Sharm el Sheikh hotel in the early morning in a comfortable, air-conditioned 4×4. With your guide at the wheel, enjoy the views as you travel deep into the Sinai Desert.
During the 2.5-hour journey, stop a couple of times to take photos. Then, watch as the mountains morph into desert plateaus that shelter your first destination — a spectacular canyon that’s home to several Bedouin families. Drive to the top of the canyon and with your guide, hike down a chimney of rock gouged in the walls by centuries of harsh desert winds. Under your guide’s watchful eye, you’ll make it safely to the valley floor with no problem, even without any climbing experience!
Walk through the canyon to view its towering limestone walls and, after about an hour, sit down to a typical Bedouin lunch prepared on an open fire by your guide. Take the opportunity to rest up or perhaps help out and learn some Bedouin cooking techniques — it’s up to you. Then, savor your meal around the campfire. Traditional Bedouin meals consist of small sharing plates, so expect everything from salad and hummus to pickles, pitta bread and perhaps even a meat stew.
Following lunch, visit a Bedouin house and sip tea with a local family; it’s a great opportunity to chat and discover more about their lives. Then, return to your 4×4 and head for some dunes for some sandboarding! After a safety briefing, grab a sandboard and master the art. Zip down the slopes, feel the adrenaline pump, and maybe even race your fellow travelers.
Then, relax as you travel back to Sharm where your tour finishes with a hotel drop-off.
