SharmCycle the power behind the pedal
SharmCycle was honored to be appointed by the South Sinai Governor Khaled Fouda as the official body to collaborate with General Mahmoud Solia, Sharm El Sheikh City Council in preparing for the official opening of first designated cycle path in the city.
The cycle path has been a long project supported by SharmCycle which was set up in 2014 by Ehab Elsayed as the leading initiative in promoting Green Tourism.
The group has been working tirelessly to gather support for cycling for a ‘greener’ Sharm and also encouraging many Sharm residents to take up cycling by organizing many events.
Governor Fouda accompanied by former Governors of South Sinai and key public figures officially cut the ribbon, while Ehab Elsayed blew the starting whistle for the SharmCycle team to take off on their bicycles decorated with several countries’ flags heading towards Naama Bay.
In a statement to Mix Magazine, Ehab Elsayed said that cycling in Sharm El Sheikh is growing fast thanks to the dedication of his teams 1200 members, and the determination to convert Sharm El Sheikh into a Green City by recognizing bicycles as a major commuting method. SharmCycle has been and remains self-funded and financed by Ehab Elsayed, who invested over 500,000 L.E so far and plans to invest even more by increasing the groups owned bicycle fleet from 50 bicycles to over 400 bicycles by end of 2015, which are made available for free to tourists to cruise Naama Bay and help promote his initiative.
