Three Peak Egypt Challenge
It’s time for the Three Peaks Egypt Challenge again! The Three Peaks Egypt Challenge is a community-founded hiking initiative that seeks to kick-start mountain tourism and help local Bedouin communities and – as part of a series of monthly challenges – it will be going ahead on Saturday, 11th April. Last month we had the first successful event on the Three Peaks Egypt Challenge.
Leo Laimer of Austria became the first person to do it, completing the circuit in 16 hours and 6 minutes. Which is an early record!
So here’s your chance to do it too!
The challenge is a 38km route with over 5000m ascent/ descent, taking in three of Egypt’s most iconic peaks and the challenge is to finish in 24 hours.
The three peaks are:
Jebel Abbas Basha – 2383m
Jebel Katherina – 2637m
Jebel Musa – 2285m
This is a serious mountain challenge that involves considerable physical exertion in rough terrain over a long period.
To join, you must have a good level of fitness and stamina and lead an active lifestyle. Ideally, you’ll have experience of mountain walking too.
Always remember, if you are not sure if you can do the challenge there is a three day option available which is a great place to start.
