Wizz Air Strengthens Presence in Southern Italy with New Routes and Year-Round Service to Sharm El Sheikh from Naples in Winter 2025
Wizz Air is set to bolster its presence in Italy with the launch of three new routes from Naples, supported by the addition of a second Airbus A321neo at its Campania base in the winter season of 2025. This expansion will boost the weekly number of flights from Naples and Salerno to 45, providing more affordable travel options for Southern Italy.
The newly introduced routes will connect Naples to Brașov in Romania and Tel Aviv in Israel, both with three weekly flights, while also adding Chișinău in Moldova with four weekly services. Additionally, Wizz Air will extend its seasonal flights to Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt into a year-round service.
These changes bring the total number of Wizz Air routes from Naples to 11, and with flights from nearby Salerno, the airline will operate 13 routes serving eight countries in the Campania region.
The expansion will also generate economic growth and job creation. The second Airbus A321neo in Naples will directly create over 50 new jobs within the airline, with an additional 300 expected in related sectors like ground services, maintenance, and hospitality.
The new services to Brașov and Chișinău stand out for their role in enhancing connectivity between Italy and Eastern Europe. These routes will strengthen ties with Romania and Moldova, two countries with growing diaspora communities in Italy.
Wizz Air’s A321neo aircraft are known for their eco-friendly features, including improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions, aligning with the airline’s broader sustainability efforts. The carrier is also focused on enhancing customer experience, with its €14 billion Customer First Compass initiative, which aims to improve reliability, service quality, and innovation over the next three years.
Tickets for the new routes are available for booking through Wizz Air’s website and mobile app. As the airline continues to expand, its influence on Italian aviation grows—nearly 100 million passengers have flown with Wizz Air to and from Italy since its inception. In 2024, the airline achieved a remarkable 99.5% flight completion rate, cementing its reputation for operational excellence.
Through these developments, Wizz Air is making Southern Italy, particularly Naples and Campania, even more accessible, bringing global destinations closer to the region.
