Egypt and Romania would hold the fourth session of the Joint Committee for Economic Cooperation between the two countries in Bucharest during the first quarter of 2021, according to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday.

Egypt and Romania held on Saturday a round of political consultations in Bucharest that was attended by Egyptian Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for European Affairs Badr Abdel-Ati, and Romanian State Secretary for Global Affairs and Diplomatic Strategies Cornel Feruţă Romania. The meeting was also attended by Egyptian ambassador to Bucharest Salah Abdel-Sadiq, the statement said.

The economic cooperation session is considered an opportunity to increase the volume of trade exchange between the two countries, granting more access for Egyptian goods to the Romanian market, encouraging Romanian investments to Egypt, and conducting joint cooperation projects with Egyptian companies, the statement added.

The two sides discussed ways of developing the bilateral cooperation in energy, natural gas and tourism sectors, and the fields of construction, food industries, as well as communications and information technology. They also tackled means of promoting and increasing tourism flows between the two countries, especially for safe Egyptian destinations in the Red Sea and the South Valley.

The two officials discussed regional and international issues, including developments in the Middle East and the Eastern Mediterranean region, as well as in Africa and the Balkans.
