IBSF World Team Championship and 6-Red Competition
June 18th to 29th Sharm el Sheikh hosted the Snooker IBSF World Team Championship and 6-Red competition, where the defending champions Mohamed Asif and Mohamed Sajjad from Pakistan were confident of retaining their titles.
However Indian cueist Sourav Kothari and Kamal Chawla made their presence felt on the opening day winning their matches with ease. Kothari blanked Mohammed Abdel Moneyiam of Egypt 4-0 and also outplayed Kuwait’s Nasser Bomejdad 4-0 in the six-red individual event. Chawla, who recently won bronze in Asian snooker, beat Ahmed Al Taweel of Iraq 4-0
This event is just another example of how Sharm el Sheikh is becoming a popular host and location for world sporting events.
