Sharm el Sheikh is lighting the way with solar power
Sharm el Sheikh is ‘lighting’ the way and hopes to become the first City in Egypt to be entirely solar powered, which will once again give Sharm the boost it deserves and puts us back in the solar spotlight of going green.
According to a statement by the Governor of South Sinai, Khaled Fouda, Sharm el-Sheikh hopes to be fully powered by solar energy within the next three months.
As it stands Sharm is already powered by 70% of solar energy, and if they manage to accomplish this new goal, it will become the first city in Egypt fully reliant on renewable energy.
This follows the historic agreement signed at the first ever Egypt Economic Development conference held in Sharm between SkyPower Global and International Gulf Development with the Government of Egypt for the development of 3,000 megawatts of utility- scale solar photovoltaic projects to be built over the next four years.
