United Nations anti-corruption gathering to meet in Sharm el-Sheikh in December

The ninth session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) – COSP9 – will be held in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, from 13 to 17 December 2021.

A wide range of topics will be discussed at the conference including recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic with integrity, preventing and combating corruption and the way forward following the UN General Assembly Special Session against Corruption in June this year.

The United Nations Convention against Corruption is the only legally binding universal anti-corruption instrument.

Every two years the States Parties to the Convention meet to review the implementation of the Convention and discuss ways to improve cooperation between States parties to achieve the Convention’s objectives.

More than 1,000 people, including many high-level participants, are expected to attend from governments, regional and intergovernmental organizations, and civil society.

Media representatives wishing to cover the conference are advised to apply for accreditation in advance through the United Nations INDICO platform.

Onsite registration at the Sharm El Sheikh International Congress Centre (ICC) will be limited.

Criteria for media accreditation and information on the documents required are available on the UNIS website.

Facilities for the media including a media centre and a press briefing room will be available at the ICC.
